After a One year absence, The Matt Angus Thing to play Saturday night of the Black Potatoe Music Festival
After some speculation as to whether or not the Matt Angus Thing was going to play in their regular Saturday spot at the annual Black Potatoe Music Festival. They have confirmed that they will indeed be playing along with Anthony Morgan's Inspirational Choir of Harlem.
"I had heard from some folks that we were not playing this year's festival", said Angus. "Which is pretty funny, cause as the guy that runs the band...and the festival, I hadn't heard anything about it. Having a one year old a new baby on the way, I just wanted to spend some time with my family. I think a year off was good, but I'm ready to play. I have talked to Randy, Chris, Tom and Anthony and they are all ready to play. So...we're looking forward to it."
Matt's daughter Maeve turned one last August and his son Theodore was born December 23rd. At last year's festival The Thing started playing to about 500 people when the sky opened up and it started to lightning and thunder. They played a shorter set to a slightly smaller faithful crowd and only stopped when the equipment started to fail from getting rained on. "After last year, with all those people standing in the rain while there was lightning, there is no way we wouldn't play. I have never appreciated people watching us as much as I did last year. Our job this year is to do the best set we can, maybe play a little longer for the folks that were a bit short changed last year.'
